Kids 4: A Foundation of Faith Ideas to Incorporate: During the month or on Activity Day based on age and interest  Plant seeds outside in your yard or inside in a pot as an object lesson to understand that faith is like a seed. We must care for our seed of faith with actions like reading the Word of God, serving others, praying, and listening to the messages that God speaks to our hearts if we want our faith to grow.  Purchase the new Matrix of Liberty Board Game at https://matrixofliberty.com/mol-board-game  Visit this website https://bensguide.gpo. gov/liberty-bell-1753 to learn about the liberty bell and the scriptural message on the bell. This symbol shows us, yet again, that the founder’s love for God and for country were connected. We can proclaim liberty when we share what we learn about America with our family and friends. What are other ways that we can “proclaim liberty” today?  As a family, discuss the meaning of these quotes: “It is impossible to enslave mentally or socially a bible- reading people. The principles of the Bible are the groundwork for human freedom.” — Horace Greely an American newspaper editor “So great is my veneration for the bible that the earlier my children begin to read it, the more confident will be my hope that they will prove useful citizens to their country and respectable members of society.” — John Quincy Adams  Someone wise once said “A man never stands taller than when he is on his knees.” George Washington was pretty tall at 6 feet 2 inches, but most would agree that he became even taller in moments like the one depicted below when he kneeled to pray for strength and help as the leader of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Ask kids: When are times that you have prayed for help? The Bible tells us that “righteousness exalteth a nation.” This means that when we do what is right and good that God will bless us and our country. What are some things that you pray for? When was a time that you needed help, like George Washington in this picture, and prayed? How did you feel? Where are some places that you like to pray? George Washington would want you to know that when you pray God will answer. God hears our prayers and will help us heal our nation. We will see miracles as we follow the example of George Washington and frequently kneel in faith to speak with God.  Have the children create a script and present a mini play or puppet show of their favorite stories about faith. Kids of all ages can participate in making puppets and presenting the show. Puppets can be simple or elaborate from paper bags to paper mache.  Pray for your government leaders by name as a family. You may consider asking that their hearts may be softened, that they will seek the guidance of God, and that they will make wise and good decisions. Suggestions for Older Kids or Youth:  Choose one of the following quotes, or find your own, and use a method such as drawing, painting, woodwork, stitching, etc., to make a copy to place somewhere you will see it often (mirror, wall in your room, desk). ❑ God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God? —Thomas Jefferson ❑ Thus out of small beginnings greater things have been produced by His hand that made all things of nothing, and gives being to all things that are; and, as one small candle may light a thousand, so the light here kindled hath shone unto many, yea in some sort to our whole nation. — William Bradford ❑ Duty is ours; results are God’s. — John Quincy Adams 4 Cottage Kids ✯ Moms for America
