Kids 1: Activity Day Outline DETAILED OUTLINE: The agenda of activities can be rearranged to best meet the needs of your group. If you have enough children of various ages and parent participation, you can divide the children into two groups for some of the activities and even have two activities taking place at the same time. We do, however, encourage the opening/closing to be done with all the children together. Opening:  Opening Prayer  Pledge of Allegiance You can have one of the children hold a small flag or use a larger flag. This is a great opportunity to teach the children respect and proper care and folding of the flag. See the Activity Day Resource pdf for a diagram on the proper way to fold the flag. If you use an actual pole and stand for the flag you can keep it up throughout the Activity Day.  Preamble: have the children read or recite the preamble to the United States Constitution. (Doing this each day as a family will have your children memorizing it in no time at all. See the Activity Day Resource pdf) Theme Story and Discussion: Andy the Anchor by Kevin G. Cox Discussion prompt questions: 1. What is an anchor? 2. What are some anchors for our lives? 3. What helps us know what is right and good? 4. What is hope? 5. How does hope make you feel? 6. How do we find hope? To be anchored in hope Americans must: Look to God, Look to Family, Look to the Constitution and Look for Moral and Virtuous Leaders (this means they try to be good, and can be examples to us). Activity and Discussion: Hope related example situations Read each case study below and ask the group the provided questions about finding hope in each situation. Have the children point to the four icons that represent God, Family, Moms for America ✯ Cottage Kids 3
