As you build the foundations for your card formations, think about or discuss how important families are to the foundation of America.*  Start a book club! For your first book, you could use Gifted Hands: The Ben Carson Story (Kids Edition/ Revised Kids Edition), Anne of Green Gables, Little Women, or choose your own book with a family/home theme.  Discuss this quote with a family member or friend: “There is no doubt that it is around the family and the home that all the greatest virtues, the most dominating virtues of human society, are created, strengthened and maintained.”  What examples of this have you heard of or seen?  With this quote in mind, what do you want to do differently to strengthen and support families in society and your own family?  What makes your family strong?  What do you want to do as a parent in the future to build a strong family?  In what ways does this quote relate to learning liberty at home?  Memorize this quote from Benjamin Franklin: “Marriage, or a union of the sexes, though it be in itself one of the smallest societies, is the original fountain from whence the greatest and most extensive governments have derived their beings.” *Ideas and materials with asterisks are included in the Activity Day Outline. You have the option to read, watch, or do the activity during the month in preparation for Activity Day or plan to complete it together on Activity Day.
