Washington, D.C. – April 24, 2025 – Kimberly Fletcher, founder of Moms for America, joined a distinguished group of health advocates and officials at the White House on April 22, 2025, for a landmark announcement by U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and FDA Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary. The event outlined an ambitious plan to phase out eight petroleum-based synthetic food dyes from the U.S. food supply by the end of 2026, a significant step in the “Make America Healthy Again” (MAHA) initiative.

Fletcher, a prominent advocate for family health and wellness, has long championed efforts to protect American children from harmful food additives. Her presence at the announcement underscores the critical role of grassroots movements like Moms for America in pushing for safer food standards. The initiative, which targets dyes like Red No. 40 and Yellow No. 5 found in cereals, snacks, and beverages, aligns with Fletcher’s mission to empower mothers to demand transparency and accountability from the food industry.

“Today marks a turning point for the health of our children and families,” said Fletcher. “For too long, American kids have been exposed to synthetic chemicals in their food that other countries have already banned. I’m honored to stand with Secretary Kennedy, Commissioner Makary, and the MAHA movement to ensure our food supply is safe and free from harmful additives.”

The announcement detailed the FDA’s plan to collaborate with food manufacturers to transition to natural alternatives like beet and carrot juice, while fast-tracking approvals for new natural dyes such as butterfly pea flower extract. Kennedy emphasized an “understanding” with industry leaders to voluntarily phase out these dyes, while Makary highlighted studies linking synthetic dyes to neurobehavioral issues in children, including hyperactivity.

Fletcher’s attendance, alongside other MAHA supporters like Vani Hari (Food Babe), highlighted the power of citizen advocacy in driving policy change. Moms for America has been instrumental in rallying parents to demand healthier food options, including protests at major food companies like WK Kellogg Co. to remove artificial dyes from cereals.

“This is a victory for every mom who’s fought for safer food for their kids,” Fletcher added. “We’re just getting started. Moms for America will continue to hold corporations and regulators accountable to prioritize our children’s health.”

The event also signaled broader reforms, with Kennedy vowing to address other harmful additives and increase transparency in food labeling. Fletcher and Moms for America are committed to supporting these efforts, ensuring American families have access to safe, wholesome food.
