Branson, MO – Moms for America® is deeply troubled by Governor Gavin Newsom’s recent remarks, as well as Jen Psaki’s demeaning comments on prayer, which together trivialized children praying for protection during violence. At a moment when innocent lives were in danger, prayer was not a political gesture, it was a lifeline. Families across this country know the power of prayer, and millions of Americans lean on faith in times of crisis.
Dismissing or mocking the role of prayer in such moments is not only insensitive, it is a direct insult to parents, children, and communities of faith who find comfort and strength in calling upon the Lord. Moms for America stands firmly with Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and the White House in defending Americans of faith and rejecting rhetoric that demeans the very values this nation was built upon.
Our children deserve leaders who value faith, family, and freedom, not politicians who weaponize tragedy to score points. We call on Governor Newsom to retract his remarks and show respect for the faith of the very families he claims to represent.
