Biden’s First Week Is Like Experiencing a Hell Week Initiation
Written by Kimberly Fletcher
Some of the fallout from week one: mandating open sex, co-ed bathrooms and locker rooms in our children’s schools; cancelling the 1776 Commission and reinstating biased, error-ridden and ideologically-driven curricula in our schools; jeopardizing our service members with politically-driven decisions about who can join the military; halting the Keystone Pipeline, eliminating thousands of jobs; reversing pro-life protections in international aid programs; and a national mask mandate. And these are just the tip of the iceberg. Biden announced plans to “codify” abortion, and we can only imagine what else he and his handlers have planned.
As an organization for mothers, we are hearing from concerned moms in every corner of the country. One mom said the first week of Biden “feels like whiplash.” After the pro-America, pro-family, pro-life policies of former President Trump, Biden’s sweeping changes and relentless executive orders are happening so fast it feels almost suffocating.
I’m not going to sugarcoat the situation. These policies will have real effects on mothers and families. With the stroke of a pen, Biden has dramatically altered the course of many aspects of our lives in the national and public sphere. We should be frank and recognize this fact.
However, what moms need above all is a message of hope. So many mothers are feeling helpless to stop the onslaught of progressive, unconstitutional, anti-American policies. As someone who speaks with patriots every day, I can say there is an enormous amount of stress and hopelessness. We cannot stay where we are and expect to survive as a nation. Our children and our grandchildren need us to continue the legacy of liberty and pass on the traditions that have made America the freest, most prosperous nation on earth.
This year, Moms for America® is hosting the Healing of America Seminar Series. This timely program takes us from the founding and the protection of God-given rights enshrined in our Constitution up to the present day and the threats we face in preserving the Republic. There is no better time than now for moms to learn the story of America.
In order to defend our rights, we need to know what they are, where they come from, and how to effectively exercise them. The Founders started, as we all should, with a clear understanding that our rights do not come from the government but from God. When government fails to protect those God-given rights, we, as Americans, have a duty to stand up for them.
As mothers, our job is not always going to be bringing a case to the Supreme Court in the defense of liberty—our work begins in the home. There is nothing more powerful we can do for our nation than to love our families well and raise our children in the Truth. Frederick Douglass said, “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” Together, moms can turn our country back to God and our founding principles in a single generation.
For all the mothers feeling discouraged by what is happening in the White House, remember how powerful your position in your own house is. Pay attention to what your children are learning in school; speak up when the curriculum is biased, inappropriate, or ideologically driven. Form connections with like-minded mothers and support each other. More than anything, realize how powerful the lessons you teach your children are. The conversations around the dinner table will stay with your children for a lifetime; Biden’s bad policies will hopefully be a distant memory when our children reach adulthood.
For the grandmothers out there, please don’t retire away, stay and share the light of truth and liberty with your grandchildren. Your voices and wisdom are needed as parents try to recover the foundation of our country. It doesn’t “take a village” (if by village they mean a giant federal government) to raise a child; it takes a mother to raise a village!
For all freedom-loving Americans I urge you to focus on your own communities. We’ve realized the incredible significance of local decisions in the last election. Learn who is on the school board and city council; meet your state legislators. That is where our focus needs to be, because that is where we will have the most impact. By advocating for liberty at the local level, we have hope of success. And, of course, there is nothing more local than home.
Winston Churchill said, “There is no doubt that it is around the family and the home that all the greatest virtues, the most dominating virtues of human, are created, strengthened and maintained.”
Liberty begins at home. We must start there. If we don’t, nothing else we do will matter.
