The Transgender Obsession and Its Tragic Effect on America’s Kids

It all starts from a painfully sad place.

A lonely 16-year-old hates herself, her body, and her place in the world. She doesn’t feel like the other girls at school. They are popular, perky, and the center of the social scene, while she doesn’t fit in. She knows she’ll never be like them, so why even try?

Then, this hurting young teen learns about the transgender journey from endless videos online from those who have taken the leap. Many on Tumblr, YouTube, and Discord seem ecstatic, telling their stories of finding relief from depression, hopelessness, and feeling out of place. They film play-by-plays of their gender transitions, like deepening voices, changing attitudes and bodies, with some even revealing results of drastic surgeries. They claim they are finally becoming who they were always meant to be. To our dejected girl, the positive stories provide the promise of happiness.

At her online friend’s suggestion, she visits a local clinic to see if the help they promised is real. Then, after a “professional” assures her that she is indeed transgender, she leaves their office clutching a bag with her first doses of hormonal therapy. She will become a boy. She believes she’ll no longer feel alone or out of step. She feels butterflies in her stomach – nervous about what she’s going to do, but with hope that she hasn’t felt for a very long time.

Sadly, mental health and medical communities willingly, even enthusiastically, paint a rosy picture of changing genders. Like many who have gone before her, they don’t complicate things by addressing underlying issues, like depression, anxiety, childhood abuse, or trauma – or the typical angst of puberty. Instead, they offer a lucrative (for them) pipe dream of “happiness” through gender transition.

Much like an unscrupulous used car salesman, they show the shiny parts while neglecting to give the customer a revealing look under the hood.

After a few years (or less) of hormonal therapy, many opt for the next step. For young girls, it’s “Top Surgery,” which is a nicer way of describing a double mastectomy. It is a traumatic procedure with immediate risks and potential long-term issues that can include depression from the loss. She won’t be able to breastfeed if she later has children. With the hormonal treatments, she may even be unable to conceive. The various treatments that fight against the body’s natural sex can even lead to menopause. You know, irritability, thinning hair, hot flashes, and incontinence. As a teen. Some detransitioners who have shared their stories confirm that future concerns weren’t addressed in any significant way by counselors or doctors. Ideology and the gender cash cow trump the “first, do no harm” standard physicians used to hold as the ideal for patient care.

A major study revealed that 85% of kids and teens who are interested in transgenderism become comfortable with their biological sex in early adulthood if they are not provided social or medical trans treatment.1 Too many medical professionals prescribe permanent disfigurement and sterilization to treat often temporary teenage angst. The social and medical transition of kids as young as 11 or 12 is tragic and filled with bad actors.

The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Medical Association, and the American Psychiatric Association all support these deceptive and unforgivable practices. It is medical malpractice and child sexual abuse. Be careful who you trust.

Evasive Educators

For years now, many school districts in both red and blue states have used curriculum teaching young children and throughout high school about gender ideology and their false concepts of its fluidity. “You can choose your gender,” they teach, neglecting the science of the issue.

Additionally, many schools allow teachers to withhold information from parents about their children transitioning in the classroom. Teachers might call Sue by her school name, “Sam,” using he/him pronouns, then deceiving parents by using her real name in correspondence or phone calls.

January Littlejohn told the story of her daughter, who was socially transitioned at school in 2019. The 13-year-old received a school “gender support plan” without notification of either parent. She is one of the hundreds, maybe even thousands, who fell under the spell of progressive educators and engaged in gender transitions outside the love and care of their parents.

The shared stories have armed moms with information to stay vigilant for their kids. More is being done by the Trump administration to address this, and we’ll get to that in a bit.

The Suicide Lie

When parents are finally brought into the picture, meeting with a counselor about their child’s desire to transition, there is a standard tool in the gender grift. It’s proven wildly successful in silencing parents and forcing their compliance.

It’s the suicide lie. To open the door to parents’ approval and financial support, they are routinely told that if they don’t go along with their child’s transition, they will likely commit suicide. “Wouldn’t you rather have a living son than a dead daughter?” That’s the standard line.

Terrified and bewildered moms and dads usually go along believing this “professional” opinion; however, more data is coming to light, revealing that the threat is built on a lie.2

Hormonal Hoax

Another lie that has been shared repeatedly is that puberty blockers are merely putting that change in life on hold. Those who support the myth contend that a child can play the transgender game for a year or two with puberty blockers and other medications and then go right back into normal physical development. This has also proven to be untrue. Some of the effects can be permanent.

According to the American College of Pediatricians, puberty blockers can cause mental illness, osteoporosis, mood disorders, cognitive impairment, and seizures. When used in concert with cross-sex hormones, they can cause sterility. Additionally, side effects of the combination of medications can lead to more serious side effects, including heart attacks, stroke, diabetes, blood clots, and cancers throughout the life of the individual.3

Even those who remain happy with their “change” will be permanent patients in need of life-long medical interventions. The human body naturally fights to maintain its natural and biological balance, and transgenderism flies in the face of a healthy lifestyle.

Much more could be said about the practices and tragic pitfalls faced by way too many. Still, we are thankful that light is beginning to reveal the truth as families and detransitioners share their stories.

Chloe Cole began her social transition at the age of 12 and said she was “fast-tracked” to medical transition at only 13. She underwent years of hormonal therapy and a complicated mastectomy at 15. Since then, she’s endured years of physical pain that continues even after her detransition at 16. “It’s seriously affected both my mental and physical health,” Cole said. “I’m still recovering to this day. I don’t know if I’ll be able to conceive a child or safely carry to term. I certainly won’t be able to breastfeed. And the people that did this to me need to be held accountable.” 4   She is a brave and outspoken advocate for those lured into transgenderism, and you can learn more of her story from our interview on this week’s podcast.

The Stats Aren’t Pretty

And some aren’t terribly accurate. Most of the studies conducted on this at-risk population have been skewed to support the ideals of the trans activists in places of power who desire the wide embrace of transgenderism.

As part of the hard sell to parents and the public on gender transition, the claim is often made that the rate of “regret” among transitioners is around 1%. That’s been recently debunked in a study that showed it to be more like 30% who opt for detransition, discontinuing hormonal treatments within four years.5

Reportedly, there are about 1.6 million transgender Americans aged 13 years and up. Kids, a growing population that isn’t included in that number, are trickier to identify because of the social contagion element of the craze. It’s not uncommon for almost everyone in a friend group to adopt a transgender identity. There’s not a lot of science to back up the movement – just a lot of online videos and activism in the classroom and the media.

There have been several studies that have been primarily ignored by mainstream media. Ryan T. Anderson, Ph.D., wrote a piece for the Heritage Foundation in which he stated, “The most thorough follow-up of sex-reassigned people – extending over 30 years and conducted in Sweden, where the culture is strongly supportive of the transgendered – documents their lifelong mental unrest. Ten to 15 years after surgical reassignment, the suicide rate of those who had undergone sex-reassignment surgery rose to 20 times that of comparable peers.” 6

The Transition of America Back to Biologic Truth

American voters pushed back against the madness in last fall’s election. One of President Trump’s campaign ads was devastating to the opposition. It simply stated that “Kamala is for they/them, President Trump is for you.” The electorate, weary of the gender grift in schools and pronoun mayhem in their workplaces, voted resoundingly for a new way forward.

Trump’s Executive Actions

On day one of his administration, Trump declared that the American government would only recognize two sexes, male and female. Our forefathers and mothers would be shocked to know that an executive order was required. But here we are.

Just seven days later, he banned the use of puberty blockers and other interventions, hormones, and the “surgical mutilation” of children, often inaccurately referred to as “gender-affirming care.” Commonsense protections, to be sure. The President went on to issue a directive forbidding federal funds to be used for transgender treatments for young and old, inmates, and others. He’s trying to help the US get out of the gender business and we applaud him for this!

The Trump Administration also addressed education with an action called “Ending Radical Indoctrination in K-12 Schooling,” which addresses more than just gender and sex education. It also takes down CRT and other destructive curricula with the promise to defund schools that refuse to comply.

Then, in February, the President signed an order “Keeping Men Out of Women’s Sports.” As some universities have bucked this one, he has calmly told them their federal funding will be withdrawn. Some have come to heel, while some fancy a little litigation.

Of course, these logical measures have been met with outrage from the left. Outrage and lawsuits. The President seems to hold solid ground on these issues, both from a Constitutional standpoint and given the popular mandate he received. Considering the leftist pushback on pretty much everything he’s said or done since 2015, we aren’t surprised at their foaming rhetoric and litigiousness. (A fancy word meaning “we love lawsuits!”)

Moms are watching, voting, and acting on behalf of the next generation. Predators beware. It’s a new “golden era,” but we must stay alert for those who seek to undermine President Trump’s actions and American families. It’s a good idea to be aware of their tactics and tricks. We’ve shared other details about the deceptive practices employed in schools and the ideology, so check out some of that information. Keep praying for our nation, mamas, and for the victims of this cancerous ideology.
